Where in the Bible does it say that knowledge puffs up?
In the Bible, the phrase "knowledge puffs up" is recorded in 1 Corinthians 8:1. The Apostle Paul writes: "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up." This short sentence has become very well-known, but its true meaning is revealed in a broader context. Paul does not condemn knowledge itself, as if a Christian ought to be uneducated or indifferent to the truth. On the contrary, the Holy Scriptures call us to grow in the knowledge of God. The problem arises when knowledge is not accompanied by love, humility, and care for others. Then, instead of building up the church, it begins to elevate one's own ego.
